John Clark, from Tampa, Florida was out in his yard pulling weeds. He didn’t see a nest on the ground before he stepped on it – once he had stepped on it, yellow jackets billowed out! John suffered four stings before getting indoors. His wife gave him an ice pack to help reduce the swelling, but soon John wasn’t well at all.

He had difficulty breathing and had numbness. This was only 60 minutes after being stung when John, with his last breath, said “I love you” to his wife and died. John had an allergic reaction to the bee stings known as anaphylaxis. You can get tested to see if you too could develop this after being stung by a bee or wasp.
