The Atlantic Goliath Grouper (aka jewfish, black bass, and giant sea bass) is a member of the sea bass family. They can grow to be up to 8 feet long it is half as wide as it is long, according to arkive.org. Goliath Groupers are ambush predators that live in shallow tropical waters around coral reefs.

Their diets consist of invertebrates and sharks, according to oceana.org. They do not chew their prey, they swallow it whole! The video below features Captain Ben Chance on his float. He is about to catch the second largest Goliath Grouper ever reeled in on a boat! (Can’t imagine what that fish looked like!) The video cuts in and out because it was a 15-minute struggle!
