People get attached to many things in their lives. We have all had our favorite pair of shoes or even a favorite parking spot. Sara Sanders from Everett, WA, had become attached to her 110-year-old cedar tree. Who wouldn’t, the tree was there when she bought her house, and it towered over her neighborhood!

Unfortunately, the tree began to rot and lose its limbs. The city said her 120-foot tree had to be removed. Sara contacted woodcarver Larry Carter and asked him to turn it into a library! At first, Larry admits he didn’t know how to proceed. But, once he began work, it all fell into place! He added bears and raccoons to the huge leftover tree trunk.

Sara said that her neighbors have really enjoyed having the new library and that she wasn’t the first person to put a book in it! Sara is happy her tree has renewed life as a library! Share away, people!
