Since 1935, cities around the country have Fleet Week. It is a tradition shared by the United States Navy, United State Coast Guard, and the United States Marine Corps. During Fleet Week, ships that were recently deployed overseas dock in major U.S. cities. During the week, visitors can come and tour the ships.

There are airshows and military demonstrations. Since 1982, New York City has hosted Fleet week around Memorial Day each year. Jimmy Fallon showed his appreciation for our armed forces this year by inviting them to his show, The Tonight Show. As a special tribute, he and Adam Sandler wore cowboy hats and played the guitar. The duo sang a riff on Garth Brooks’ song “Friends in Low Places.”
