Puppy strangles is an immune dysfunction that is inherited. It can cause painful skin lesions. Usually, corticosteroids are used to treat the disorder, but severe cases may require chemotherapy. Antibiotics are used to help with any infection in the lesions. It is rare for the disorder to recur, but some scarring may remain.
