Giant pandas are an endangered species. According to smithsonianmag.com, only 1,600 giant pandas live in the wild, and just over 300 live in captivity. To save this beautiful species panda experts are trying to help pandas breed, but breeding pandas in captivity is very hard – Females only ovulate once a year and the window of insemination is very short.

Timing is crucial, and if they miss, they have to wait another year to try again! At the Paira Daiza Zoo in Belgium, Hao Hao, a giant panda, just had a baby! She was artificially inseminated with sperm from her mate Xing Hui. Here is the proud mama and her newborn baby boy! The tiny cub weighed around 6 oz at birth.
